A wish that came true

The following story is about the restoration of a Scania Streamline 143. This truck is from one of our southern neighbors, the Belgian Filip. Although there are Dutchmen who make fun of Belgian people, Filip is a guy to be taken serious, because of his big plans. And as far as Filip, I, as biggest Stiesfan (Gerrit), haven’t come yet, despite my large collection. This restoration kept me thinking, because in this truck you could move your museum in one piece, but now we let Filip do the talking:

Filip: “From my childhood on, I’ve been bitten by the truck microbe. The reason that I haven’t become a truck driver, is because we have a advertising company and my father saw me as his successor. On a certain day, about 15 years ago, we had to work for a customer from Lokeren. When I passed the truck stop, I saw the truck of Sties on the parking lot. I was hooked instantly and began dreaming about my own truck, not for transport, but as a hobby. Then I got the chance to buy an old Scania LBS 141 (around 1998) and let it completely get restored at Leo Bol from Klazienaveen. When there needed to be decided what colour the truck should be in, my friends made me doubt, because they said that I should paint it in the company’s colors.

A couple of months later after I’ve been to Lokeren for some times, and saw the trucks of Sties every time, I knew it for sure. I would do anything to get  a truck painted in Sties colours.

About three years ago I had the opportunity to buy a Streamline Cold Storage truck and I decided to paint it in the colours of Sties. And so it became A WISH THAT CAME TRUE.”

Gerrit: “And when the truck is finished completely, it will be showed at truckshows.”
